Owaisi Family Scion To Make Political Debut Soon?
Talking about the party, it has been focusing only on the seats where the Muslim community votes are in significant numbers
Hyderabad-based All India Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) is one of the big parties in the state. Like how films are following Pan-India trend, the party is also following Pan-India politics and the party has representation in a few states outside Telangana.
Talking about the party, it has been focusing only on the seats where the Muslim community votes are in significant numbers. But the party is likely to change this and come out of its comfort zone. The party might contest more number of seats than it usually contests.
As a shot in the arm efforts, the third generation from the Owaisi might be fielded in the upcoming elections. Reports say that Akbaruddin Owaisi's son, Dr. Nooruddin Owaisi is likely to be fielded as an MLA in the upcoming elections in Telangana.
This is the debut election of Dr. Nooruddin Owaisi and the party wants him to win it without any issues. So the seat might have been selected by the party leadership. Owaisi family has a strong control over Old City and the adjacent areas.
The legacy of the Owaisi family in politics started with Salahuddin Owaisi He served as MLA and MP multiple times during his tenure. MIM was founded by his father. After taking over the party he helped the party get a strong control on the territory.
He retired from politics in 2004. By then he served as the Member of Parliament from Hyderabad seat for six consecutive terms. Later his sons took an active role. His elder son Asaduddin Owaisi, who is the president of the Majlis party also replaced him as the MP of the Hyderabad seat.
Salahuddin Owaisi's younger son Akbaruddin Owaisi, is a member Chandrayangutta Assembly seat. He has been serving as the MLA from the seat for a few terms. Now his son who marks the third generation of leaders from the Owaisi family is expected to take the political route.
