Now scientists discovered an ancient city beneath the Amazon Rainforest. The city is expected to be thousands of years old. The city is dubbed as the oldest city that was found in the Amazon so far. The hard work they have been doing for the past few years led to the big discovery.
As per the information shared by the international media, an ancient city that might be 3,000 years old was discovered by scientists. LiDAR which is the latest technology that uses laser scanning for the discovery was used which helped the scientists to discover the city.
Scientists believe that the city that was discovered under the Amazon Rainforest might be 3000 years old and might been a busy area with a big population around 2000 years back.
Professor Stephen Rostain led the research which was started in 2015. The research which has been going on since then made a big breakthrough and the ancient city was discovered. Around a thousand years back the ancient city might have been lost.
The civilisation was developed one that it had vast roads which connect to the human habitats. There were over 6,000 raised earthen platforms while the majority of them are wooden buildings. There were long roads on the site and around 10,000 to 30,000 people lived there in the lost city. Five sites were believed to have been found in the area where the discovery was made.
