Andhra Pradesh’s opposition party YSR Congress is doing everything it can to give a strong competition to ruling NDA. But at times, certain YCP senior are crossing the line in abusing NDA leaders and the case of Ambati Rambabu is similar as he abused CM Chandrababu recently.

Senior YSR Congress Party leader Ambati Rambabu was arrested in early February 2026 by Andhra Pradesh police over alleged derogatory remarks against Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.

His detention drew sharp criticism from YSRCP leaders, who called the actions politically motivated and accused the government of undermining democratic norms.

During the episode, his residence was reportedly targeted by opposing party activists, according to his party supporters.

After spending about 18 days in Rajahmundry Central Jail, Rambabu secured bail from the court and was released.

Upon release, he addressed the media, stating that he felt unjustly incarcerated and vowed to continue his political fight without backing down, asserting his loyalty to his party and leader, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. His remarks also reflected his defiance, even joking about jail food while maintaining his combative stance.

Just two days after his release, Rambabu met YSRCP president and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy at his residence in Tadepalli.

During the meeting he reportedly briefed Jagan on his legal battles and expressed his intent to push forward the party’s public campaign, reinforcing party unity after his release from jail.
