As we had been extensively reporting in the last few months, the number of fatalities involving the Indian community in the United States has been on a constant rise. Now, a young Indian woman named Arti Singh from San Jose is fighting for her life after a tragic road accident on November 9.

She was returning from a professional networking event and was crossing the street when a vehicle struck her. The impact left her with severe injuries, and doctors at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center performed major surgeries on her neck and stomach to help her breathe and receive nutrition. She has remained unconscious and in a coma since the crash.

Her father, Sumiran Singh, rushed to the United States and is currently facing a very difficult situation without any local support system. He does not have access to Arti’s phone, documents, or accounts, which is making medical and legal processes even more challenging. He is trying to secure guardianship so that he can take important decisions regarding her treatment and other formalities.

The accident was not a hit and run. The driver involved was an older man, but his identity has not been revealed. Reports indicate that he did not have insurance, which further complicates compensation and legal procedures.

The Indian community in California has come together to support the family with donations, emotional strength, and guidance during this painful time.
