The India vs. Pakistan match was washed away earlier due to rain. Seeing the rain threat, ACC planned a reserve day, and that saved the game. Fans who waited for the reserve day got unmatched entertainment. India put up an all-round performance and crushed Pakistan.
Openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill gave a dream start to the match and made a partnership of over 100 runs. Fans hoped that one of them would score a ton. But they were sent back by the Pakistan bowlers. But Pakistan's troubles increased with KL Rahul and King Kohli coming to the crease.
They not only scored individual scores but also made an unbeaten partnership of 233 which is the highest in Asia Cup’s history. While Virat Kohli scored 122 runs, KL Rahul scored 106 runs. Thanks to their partnership, India put up a massive total of 356 runs.
Pakistan did not get the ideal start in the chase. Pakistan was bundled for just 128 runs. After losing eight wickets, Pakistan did not send the other batsmen as they were injured. Hardik Pandya gave the big breakthrough by sending Babar Azam, the World’s Number 1 batsman home. But Kuldeep Yadav shined big with a fifer.
King Kohli needs a special mention here. He broke a few records and is inching towards Sachin’s massive record. Sachin Tendulkar who is the only player to score hundred centuries, has 49 ODIs to his name. Virat Kohli now has 47 centuries. While Sachin took 463 ODIs for this, Virat Kohli played just 278 ODIs. Overall, Virat Kohli has 77 centuries to his name.
