Former Maharashtra Minister Baba Siddique Shot Dead in Dussehra Attack

Former Maharashtra minister and NCP leader, Baba Siddique, was tragically shot dead outside his son's office in Mumbai on October 13, 2024. The incident occurred while Siddique was celebrating Dussehra with firecrackers. As he stood outside his son, MLA Zeeshan Siddique's office, three armed attackers emerged from a vehicle and opened fire. One of the bullets struck Siddique in the chest, leading to his collapse. Despite being rushed to Lilavati Hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.
The attackers used firecrackers as a distraction to execute the crime. Two suspects were arrested at the scene—one from Uttar Pradesh and the other from Haryana—while a third is still on the run. The police also recovered three bullet casings from the location.
An exclusive image of one of the arrested attackers was obtained by India Today, providing critical evidence in the case. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has promised strict action, stating that those responsible will not evade justice. Meanwhile, NCP leader Ajit Pawar expressed deep grief over Siddique’s death, calling him a valuable colleague and a champion for minority communities. Pawar assured that the investigation will be thorough, and the mastermind behind the attack will be found.
The incident has shocked many, as Baba Siddique was a well-known figure in Maharashtra politics, recognized for his efforts in promoting communal harmony.
