BJP’s Vote Share Falls Across All Age Group Voters!

The results were a rude shock to the BJP as it went to elections with the slogan of winning over 400 seats. But the outcome was different. The party could not win even 300 seats. The party could not even reach the 250 mark which is 150 seats less than its target. This is the lowest tally of BJP since 2014.

BJP also faced a big shock as it lost seats in Uttar Pradesh, its stronghold. Well, this is not enough as news has come out which says that the BJP’s vote share among all the age groups. Compared to 2019, the vote share had come down for the BJP, while Congress had a gain.

In 2019, BJP’s vote share was 40 percent in the age group of below 25 years. In 2024 the percentage came down to 39. In the last elections, BJP had 39 percent of the vote share in the 26-35 group which came down to 37 percent.

In the 36-45 group, BJP attracted 37 percent votes which reduced to 36 percent. Talking about the 46-55 group it is the only group which had a slight increase of two percent. In the 56 and above group, there is no big change as 35 percent was recorded in 2019 and 2023.

While the vote percentage is not that big we have seen what happened in the elections. On the other hand, Congress made a gain as its vote share increased across all the age groups. The increase in the vote share is evident in the elections as Congress improved its seats massively.

What happened is a huge concern for the BJP. In the recent elections, it fell short of the magic figure. If the vote percentage decreases further it has to pay a heavy price.
