With elections just 20 days away, the ruling BRS has begun making furious preparations for community outreach in various constituencies. It has begun the process of organizing “Atmeeya Sammelanams” across the state to mobilise support for the party candidates, especially in the GHMC area.
This programme has been conceived by KCR himself and was successfully used for the Munugode bypolls. These community meetings have helped the BRS in Munugode in staving off a stiff challenge from the BJP. The aim is to build bridges between community influencers who would sway the voters.
These sammelanams are being organized to influence the communities. The party feels that caste and ethnic affinity plays a very important role and such community meetings will go a long way in helping the voters make their political choices. There is special focus on the Lambadas, who are present in a large number on the outskirts of the city.
Besides caste groupings, the BRS is trying to organize meetings for professional groupings such as doctors, lawyers, chartered accountants, women employees etc. The party is also planning students meet and youth meets at the constituency level. Sources say these meetings will prove quite beneficial to the party.
