BRS’ biggest worry: Will the young voters ditch it?

Youth… this is the biggest worry for the ruling BRS in poll-bound Telangana state. The BRS government is acutely aware that it has not measured up to the expectations of the youth, especially the first-time voters, who are also job aspirants. The party has realized that the young voters could prove crucial in several constituencies, especially those in the urban areas.

According to the latest voters list, there are at least 1.28 crore voters in the age group of 18 to 39. These voters are almost a third of the total voters. At least 12 lakh voters are in the 18-19 years age group. This group is said to be upset with the ruling BRS Joblessness, ignoring quality education are the main reasons for their disenchantment.

Surveys have shown that a staggering 70 per cent of them are unhappy with the BRS. Only up to 30 per cent are with the BRS. The BRS is now planning a major outreach for the young voters. The party is planning to convince them that it is sincere about the job creation and that it will rectify all the errors in the TSPSC.

The BRS is also planning to woo the young voters by organizing mega youth conventions across the state. It is also offering attractive positions in the party organizational network to the youth. The party is also all set to unveil a youth policy, which focuses on job creation and provision of growth opportunities.

It remains to be seen whether the young voters take the bait and go with the BRS or vote against it to make a point.
