While OTTs rose to fame there is a big criticism of the free hand to the content on the space. We have seen a few controversies over the OTT content earlier.

Taking the debate forward a producer attracted 13 years in prison and a travel ban. The content in a Netflix series is said to be the reason behind the producer facing the big punishment. The development caught everyone’s attention.

Abdul Aziz al-Muzaini has been accused of endorsing terrorism and homosexuality through his hit animated series Masameer, a satirical cartoon. The series got a good reception but also landed in a controversy.

The producer is accused of promoting terrorism and homosexuality in the series. The 2021 series landed him in a big row. A committee was made to look into this and question him. He said that the chairman of the committee questioned him over the charges.

Despite the producer giving his explanation on this, the body found him guilty. With this, he was slapped with a jail term and a travel ban. The issue is expected to be heard by a higher court and till then the punishment stays intact.

Laws and Saudi Arabia and other Middle Eastern nations are very tough and violators would face big punishment. The producer is accused of trying to mock the Saudi Crown Prince with the content and his decisions. The language used in the content also raised a few objections.
