Tough Fight Awaits Chelluboina In Rajahmundry Rural Seat?
With eyes on power and recording a second consecutive win, the ruling YSRCP is going forward aggressively
With eyes on power and recording a second consecutive win, the ruling YSRCP is going forward aggressively. In a phased manner the party is announcing the in-charges and candidates for the elections. The party has already given clarity on the candidates in many seats.
Following the same, Cabinet Minister Chelluboina Srinivasa Venugopala Krishna was allocated the Rajahmundry Rural seat. He was shifted from his sitting position and placed in a new arena.
Rajahmundry is one of the seats where the opposition TDP enjoys a good hold. Be it in undivided or divided seats TDP has been showing its strength there. The sitting MLA is Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary.
The senior TDP leader won the seat in 2019 despite facing strong winds from the YCP. This speaks volumes about the hold the TDP holds there.
Moreover Chelluboina Srinivasa Venugopala Krishna is a new face here and locking horns with the already existing TDP will not be an easy task for him.
Rajahmundry has been the strong fortress of the Telugu Desam Party for a long time. Moreover the party joined hands with Janasena which makes it even more invincible. Combined the strength is almost unbreakable.
Citing these reasons, the political observers say that Chelluboina will face a tough time in the state. The seat already has a sitting MLA.
Talking about the candidacy from the TDP, there are high chances for Gorantla to get another chance. Earlier he openly expressed dissatisfaction over seniors reportedly getting sidelined in the party. So he might get another chance.
However it is also said that there is a competition for the seat from the Janasena party. Saying that the party is strong there, the party is reportedly eyeing the seat. Due to the alliance Janasena will get a few seats and Rajahmundry rural might be one of them if everything goes well.In this possibility Gorantla has to take a back seat.
It is said that the Janasena wants Kandula Durgesh who contested the last elections and attracted over 42k votes to face the election again as the party has a strong presence in the region.
While we cannot say whether Janasena or TDP gets the ticket, it is fixed that the other party supports the candidate who would be the joint candidate in the elections. The chances of the alliance winning the elections are high, say the observers.
It is an open secret that many MLAs from the YSRCP won the elections in 2019 in the Jagan wave and there is no clarity on whether the same would work this time or not.
