It is already known that India is facing a very major problem with corruption in the government sectors and there is the public opinion that the punishment for these individuals is not strong enough.
It is already known that India is facing a very major problem with corruption in the government sectors and there is the public opinion that the punishment for these individuals is not strong enough.
In this context, China has done something extremely interesting as the judicial body has issued a death penalty to government officer who is accused of more than ₹3000 crore corruption. Incidentally, former Nanjing economic development official Yang Youlin has been sentenced to death in China after being found guilty of taking bribes worth $325 million over three decades.
Investigated under President Xi Jinping’s anti‑corruption drive, Yang was also convicted of embezzlement, abuse of power, money laundering and other offences. The court said he illegally accepted assets from 1993 to 2023 in exchange for project approvals and land grants, ordering his property seized and bribes recovered.
These are very severe charges in China and could invite pretty strong legal consequences, which is reflecting in the fact that he has been sentenced to death by the judicial body. The volume of the corruption is also pretty extreme here as around ₹3000 crore were looted in this individual’s tenure.
A few people are financially commenting that even India has several such cases, but these government officers are happily working freely even to this day. People are calling for strict measures from the Indian authorities as well in such matters.
