It is already known that megastar Chiranjeevi had recently requested the government of Andhra Pradesh to be considerate about film awards and requested them to carry on with the prestigious Nandi Award.
Kesineni Sivanath, widely known as Kesineni Chinni, who is the Member of Parliament for Vijayawada from the Telugu Desam Party, has publicly urged veteran Chiranjeevi to work closely with the Andhra Pradesh government to strengthen and promote the Telugu film industry.
Chinni highlighted that the industry needs active support, policymaking help, and better recognition from the state leadership. He specifically mentioned that initiatives like the state’s prestigious Nandi Awards, which honour excellence in Telugu cinema, should be revived with government backing and held soon.
According to reports, an official announcement on the Nandi Awards is expected shortly, as Chinni emphasized the awards’ importance for artistic recognition and industry morale.
The backdrop to this appeal comes as the Telugu film community is watching state engagement closely.
At the recent Telangana Gaddar Film Awards event, Chiranjeevi himself called for Andhra Pradesh to adopt stronger film‑industry‑friendly policies similar to neighbouring states, praising efforts where artists are visibly supported and celebrated. He suggested that this could also boost revenues and cultural prestige.
The Nandi Awards, long regarded as the highest state honour for Telugu films and artists, were last regularly conferred in 2016 and have since awaited formal ceremony revival.
