Need Of The Hour: Tollywood Moves Away From Politics

Telugu states are primarily driven by two factors and they are cinema and politics. This has been the case all along, and there has often been interlude between the two of them as well, considering that several film stars have gone to try their hand in politics.
Apart from the direct entry in politics, there are several actors and directors who had earlier supported their favourite political parties at different capacities. During the election period, a few heroes and directors coming out and supporting their favourite political parties in a vocal manner.
However, this turned out to be a detrimental factor with the change of governments in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Few directors whose vocally supported BRS during KCR’s time as the chief minister are now left without any projects and they are struggling to gain even location permissions under the Revanth Reddy government.
But at the same time, if a few people support Revanth Reddy now, then there is every chance that BRS government will also start to impose on them once they come to power.
Same as the case in Andhra Pradesh as well. A few directors and actors who had supported YS Jagan during his time as the chief minister are now facing complex situations and a few of them are even fighting legal cases. And again, they are not in the mood to make good with Chandra Babu, either, considering that Jagan might be rampant once he becomes the CM again.
The end point here is that Tollywood has essentially decided to stay away from politics for good and they are no longer intending to make such political statements in the future.
This is very much the need of the hour now, considering that cinema must always stay away from active politics because any untoward statements or actions are only going to trigger the ruling government, which is not good for the industry.
