Contestants Can File Election Nominations Online From Now!

The Election Commission took a key decision on filing the nominations for elections. The contestants can file their nominations online also for the upcoming elections. To date, the candidates have to submit the application physically to the returning officers. As there were no fights now we are not seeing any unwanted scenes. With this, the contestants are filing the nominations for the general elections freely.

There were instances earlier where the contestants created trouble for the opponents. In some instances, the contestants were also kidnapped to stop them from filing the nominations. With times changing we are not seeing such incidents now. It is a piece of news to welcome that the Election Commission created a facility allowing the contestants to file nominations online. However, there is a catch here. After filing the applications online they have to physically meet the returning officers before the last date.

As we cannot know who filed nominations on whose behalf, the clause was put up. Filing nominations online, paying the prescribed money and the proposers' signatures should be in the prescribed format. As per the rules, the applications should be uploaded on the suvidha.eci.gov.in website.

The concerned acknowledgement will come online. The contestants have to meet the returning officer with that acknowledgment and file the nomination the second time. Then only the application is valid. This is the first time the facility to file nominations online was allowed. It is known that earlier the Election Commission created a facility that allows elderly people, handicapped and people with long-standing illnesses can vote online.
