This Country To Restrict Student Visas Massively?

A big decision taken by a country is raising many concerns about the negative impact it would have on foreign students. In a big bid to reduce the burden of immigration, the administration took a big decision. A limit would be imposed on foreign student visas for the next academic year.

Australia is among the preferred nations by foreign students for higher studies. Australia will be among the top five countries when it comes to preferred countries for students. Various factors contribute to this.

Compared to other countries like the US and UK the costs are relatively less in Australia and the country has resources across the sectors. It is said that students can easily get accommodation at low costs.

Australia is home to some of the best Universities and students from various countries land there for education. Students get good exposure and the employment chances are also high there which makes it a big preferred location.

Over the years migration has been seeing massive numbers, especially from students. As per the information, as many as six lakh visas were granted for foreign students in 2023 which is massive. This speaks volumes about the preference of foreign students.

However, the administration is said to be working on bringing down the visa numbers massively for the next academic year. The visas would be restricted to just 2,70,000 including 145,000 student visas and 95000 students under skill training.

It is said that a few Universities are opposing this saying it would leave a big impact on the country as they would miss some bright minds. However, the administration is adamant about going forward with the decision and restricting the visa numbers.
