Cricket Likely To Be Played at Prestigious Olympics?

The whole country is gripped by the cricket fever with the ongoing World Cup. India is the host of the event and after a long gap, we are hosting the mega event. Cricket fans are enjoying the tournament. In the recent Asian Games, India bagged two golds with both men's and women's teams winning the big medal.

Now Cricket fans have another news to celebrate as the sport was proposed for the prestigious 2028 LA Games. Along with Cricket, a few other games were also proposed. The sports were proposed as a medal event. The Organising Committee proposed flag football, baseball, lacrosse, softball, cricket, and squash for the 2028 event.

Through social media, the Olympic Games announced the big decision. The video that was attached to the tweet had pictures of the games which are proposed. Though the games are proposed, no decision is made and the committee will take a call on this in a few days.

Now all eyes are on the Organising Committee to see if Cricket will be included or not. We will get clarity on this as the body is likely to announce the decision later this week. If Cricket gets included then it will be a piece of big news.

The possible inclusion of Cricket will also be happy news to the International Cricket governing body International Cricket Council(ICC) which has been trying hard to see that the sport is played at the global level. Earlier, the ICC gave a presentation on the game and the format it should be played.

Cricket will be played in T20 format at the Olympics as per the presentation given by the ICC. After the committee proposed the game, ICC chairman Greg Barclay expressed his happiness and said that they are happy with the development as it can have a significant impact.

If the Organising Committee okays the proposal of including Cricket in the 2028 Olympics or the Summer Olympics, then the sport will be played after a long gap of a century. In the initial days of the Olympic event, Cricket was played back in 1900 and the event was dubbed as Paris Olympics. Britain won the prestigious Gold by defeating hosts France.
