Yet again the betting app found itself in the middle of the news as a popular actress was summoned. It is said that the actress was directed to come for questioning. The summons were served in connection with the illegal broadcast of IPL matches.
It is known that Viacom 18, which is owned by Reliance Industries currently holds the IPL rights. The company got the rights for 2023-2027. With this, only Viacom 18 can stream the IPL and this is why JioCinema is streaming the IPL matches.
However, the 2023 edition of IPL was illegally streamed on the Fairplay app reportedly which led to big losses to the Viacom firm. With this, a case has been filed with the Maharashtra Cyber Wing. It is said that Fairplay is a part of the Mahadev gaming app.
As Tamannaah Bhatia reportedly promoted the app the Cyber wing served notices to her and asked her to come for questioning. It is also said that Bollywood veteran actor Sanjay Dutt was also served the summons directing him to attend the questioning. But the actor skipped the session reportedly.
It is known that Courts and investigating agencies are dealing with betting apps and promotion. Earlier a few Cricketers and former Cricketers were slammed by the Court for promoting such apps.
