Deep Fake Threat Puts White House On Its Toes?

This is the Artificial Intelligence era and we are living in it. The current phenomenon is doing wonders on one side with technological advancements like ChatGPT and others. On the other side, AI is raising many fears of the misuse of the technology.

Deepfake videos are a big security threat we are facing as a world. Now the deepfake threat hit the superpower nation United States. Deepfake videos of famous personalities are ringing danger bells in the country. This made the White House alert and come on its toes.

Adult pictures of celebrated singer Taylor Swift and robocalls of US President Joe Biden’s voice appeared on social media raising many fears. This made the White House alert and the President’s House said it is alarmed about the situation.

The big reason behind the concerns is that the Presidential elections are due this year. The candidates sending pre-recorded calls to the voters appealing to them to vote is not new and it has been going on for a very long time. But the recorded calls have a deepfake twist here.

It is said that the audio calls were edited in a way that Joe Biden is appealing to the voters to not vote for him in the elections. This is not something that Joe Biden and his party want to see ahead of the elections.

Such videos can even change the outcome of the elections. So the White House is said to have swung into action to look into these audio calls. As the elections are fast approaching, these audio calls went viral and created a lot of concerns.

The deep fake videos and audio calls posing a big threat in a country like the US is not a small thing and needs strong action. If technology can create terror in big countries we can understand the threat it poses.

It has to be mentioned here that earlier the White House called for a crucial meeting with the heads of the tech giants. The threat posed by AI was discussed in the meeting. Now the same technology is ringing danger bells in the country.
