Is Delhi's AAP Facing Backlash? Legal Challenges Loom for Chief Minister Atishi

Arvind Kejriwal, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Convener, has recently voiced concerns over potential legal actions against Delhi's Chief Minister Atishi. In a statement made on X platform, he suggested that CM Atishi could face arrest on false charges due to the AAP's introduction of certain welfare schemes. Kejriwal highlighted that these initiatives, particularly the Women's Honor Scheme and the Sanjeevani Scheme, have not been well-received by some, leading to the anticipated legal troubles for the Chief Minister and possible raids on senior AAP leaders' residences. He announced plans to address these issues further in a press conference scheduled for Wednesday at noon.

In light of the upcoming Assembly elections in Delhi, the AAP has put forth proposals aimed at supporting women and seniors. These include a monthly financial aid of ₹2,100 for women under the Women's Honor Scheme and the provision of free medical treatment for senior citizens under the Sanjeevani scheme, applicable in both government and private hospitals. The party has begun accepting applications for these schemes, indicating its readiness to implement these policies should they retain power.

However, a recent newspaper advertisement has sparked controversy by questioning the legitimacy of these schemes. The ad, purportedly from the Women, Child Development, Health, and Family Welfare Departments, claims there is no official record of the schemes mentioned by the AAP. It warns the public to be cautious, stating that the government has not authorized anyone to gather information or data concerning these initiatives. This development adds a layer of uncertainty around the promises made by the AAP, with Kejriwal's statements casting a shadow over the party's ambitious plans for Delhi's welfare.
