Delhi on Alert: Metro Closed, Several Trains Camcelled?

Delhi is preparing for a major protest on Saturday that is on October 10. The authorities have announced several restrictions on public transport ahead of the planned demonstration at Jantar Mantar. Metro passengers and train travellers may face difficulties from Friday night.

The main concerns of this situation are the closure of entry and exit gates at 57 metro stations and the cancellation of several train services. Also, regarding internet a news is circulating that from Tonight 10 PM to tomorrow night 10 PM internet will be shut down in central Delhi. But there is no confirmed information that the entire city of Delhi will lose internet access tonight.

Indian Railways has also announced changes to train services. Mail and Express trains scheduled to arrive at New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin railway stations between 4 AM and 2 PM on Saturday, October 10, have been affected by the cancellations.

The decision was taken because of the possibility of heavy traffic around the two major railway stations. Officials are concerned that passengers may face problems finding taxis and other transport after reaching Delhi.

Several important trains, including the Howrah-New Delhi Rajdhani Express and the Sealdah-New Delhi Rajdhani Express, have been cancelled. Some other trains have also been cancelled or rescheduled.

However the trains operating to other stations, including Anand Vihar and Old Delhi, are expected to run as usual according to the available reports. Passengers must check their individual train status before travelling.

The restrictions come ahead of the planned October 10 protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The Delhi Police has denied permission for the demonstration, citing concerns over the conditions required for the event.

Security arrangements have been strengthened across the capital to prevent possible disturbances. So for Delhi people, it is better to cross check all the information before planning anything today or tomorrow.
