RCB was knocked out of the IPL with a defeat against RR. Now fans have another big shock with the retirement of a star player who makes quick runs at the end to set up a good tone.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik retired from the IPL. In the qualifier match, he was given a guard of honor which indicates that a player is bidding goodbye to the sport.
He has one of the most glorious careers in IPL history. He recorded the second-highest dismissals as a wicketkeeper in the IPL and has the third-highest appearance in the IPL.
Dinesh Karthik has been the backbone of RCB for some years. Even if the top order fails he scores quick runs and helps his team. As a wicketkeeper, he was part of many crucial dismissals for the team. This is the legacy he had. It would be tough to see RCB without him given the importance he holds.
Earlier he expressed his wish to be a part of the Indian squad for the T20 league. But the selectors looked beyond him and he could not find a place in the team. Cut to a few weeks he left the game as one of the giants.
Dinesh Karthik was in line for the wicketkeeper slot for the Indian team and he was a member of the 2007 World Cup-winning squad too. But he could not become a full-time WK in the team with the presence of MS Dhoni, who stuck to the position across the formats.
