Sunday marked the big festival Diwali which is celebrated as the win of good over evil. Diwali is not just celebrated in India but also in various parts of the world with a lot of enthusiasm. Crackers were burst and earthen lamps were lit by people who celebrated the festival of lights.

The festival had now grabbed everyone’s attention as it returned to Jammu and Kashmir after a long gap of seven decades. People visited the famous temple in the region and celebrated the festival.

The Sharda Devi temple in J&K celebrated the festival for the first time in 75 years, said the temple organisers. They said that as the festival was celebrated here after a long gap people participated in the celebrations.

As per the media reports, Save Sharda Committee head Ravinder Pandita said that people gathered in big numbers and celebrated the festival with a lot of enthusiasm and burst crackers. He said that people took part in the celebrations and expressed his happiness on this.

It has to be mentioned here that the Sharda Devi temple at Kupwara in Jammu and Kashmir was inaugurated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah back in May this year. Amit Shah inaugurated the temple near LoC in Kashmir virtually. After the inauguration, the temple was opened to the people.

Back then Amit Shah said that the Sharda Peeth pilgrimage in PoK would be opened soon on the lines of Kartarpur Corridor in Punjab. Ravinder Pandita stressed this now and requested the Home Minister to look into this proposal and open the pilgrimage.
