Drunk-Drive Tests: Around 2500 People Caught In Hyd!

Mixing drinking and driving is a big issue. We are seeing road accidents and mishaps with this. This is the reason why we see special drives for drinking and driving to take people who are drunk into custody. The Drive in Hyderabad saw a record number of cases and arrests as per the information.

In the special drives set up across the areas in the last two weeks, thousands of people were caught driving after drinking. As per the information shared by the media reports as many as 2,483 people were caught. Half the number of them attracted a charge sheets for this and 158 people were arrested.

While over 2,483 motorists were booked in the last 15 days the majority of the cases were registered on Saturday. It is said that 298 people were caught in the drive and 70 were arrested and slapped with a jail term. Out of the total people caught, the lion's share of them are two-wheelers.

The rest of them were sent to counseling centers on the dangerous side of drinking and driving and how it will have a long-lasting attempt. The arrested people were presented before the courts. Over Rs 30 lakh was collected as fines in these cases.

It is known that driving after getting intoxicated is an offense and it attracts a fine of Rs 10k or a jail term. Based on the level of the alcohol in their body the punishment varies.
