Students in Telangana have a reason to celebrate as the Education Department has officially released the Dussehra holiday schedule for schools. This year, holidays will begin on September 21, 2025, and continue until October 3, 2025 by giving a total of 13 days off. Schools will reopen on October 4, 2025.

The holidays are being given on account of Bathukamma and Dussehra festivals, which are celebrated in a grand way across Telangana. The announcement applies to all government and private schools in the state. Officials have also pointed out that the holiday period includes October 2, which marks Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, a national holiday. With October 3 also being a holiday, students will enjoy back-to-back festival celebrations before returning to classes.

These long holidays will not only give students a break but also allow families to plan festive gatherings, travel, and community celebrations. Cultural events like Bathukamma festivities, Dussehra processions, and Ravana Dahanam will be held in different parts of the state, making the holidays even more colorful.

Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh (AP) government has also finalized its Dussehra holiday schedule. In AP, schools will get 10 days of holidays, from September 24 to October 2, 2025. Schools there will also reopen on October 4. Interestingly, AP will have three days fewer holidays compared to Telangana.

Additionally, Christian missionary schools in Andhra Pradesh will follow a slightly different schedule. They will remain closed from September 27 to October 2, as announced by the state’s Education Department. This applies to both students and teaching staff in those institutions.
