Farmers Dump Tomato In Open Seeing Less Price!
Farmers who worked hard on growing the crops were disheartened to see that the prices fell massively. It is said that a kilo of Tomato costs now just Rs 3.
A few months back Tomatoes were sold at record prices and one kilo costed around Rs 150-200. Seeing the skyrocketing prices people stopped consuming tomatoes. Farmers who cultivated tomatoes stuck gold and we have seen a few farmers earning lakhs. Food companies like Burger King and others stopped using tomatoes in their items.
Now the situation changed at once and there is a massive fall in the prices. Now the prices are less than Rs 20 per kilo which is very surprising. Seeing this, farmers burst into tears and threw their crops there.
As per the media reports, this shocking incident was reported from Nandyal from Andhra Pradesh. Farmers who worked hard on growing the crops were disheartened to see that the prices fell massively. It is said that a kilo of Tomato costs now just Rs 3.
A heart-wrenching incident was reported at the Pyapili market as farmers dumped the tomatoes looking at the lower price. The situation was such that seeing the crop at the open land, the stary cattle feasted on them.
Farmers are saying that the lower prices are of no use to them and the amount cannot even match the travel cost. It is said that this is the case everywhere and there is no big price for the crop in any market.
No one would have predicted that Tomato prices would go past Rs 150 per kilo and in just a few months would come down to less than Rs 10. Even in the open market, Tomato prices have reached the normal stage and there is no guarantee of when the prices will increase again.
