In what could be considered an extremely interesting incident, the FBI has swooped into action at a call center in India that has been troubling the senior citizens in the United States.

According to the communication from the FBI, the investigative agency has shut down a call center operation in India. This call center defrauded hundreds of elderly victims here in the U.S. and abroad out of millions of dollars through tech support scams, & two senior executives who operated a business that enabled it, have just admitted to turning a blind eye to this widespread fraud.

This comes after an FBI Boston investigation that has resulted in the arrests & convictions of a former employee of their call routing company, and five India-based telemarketing fraudsters. What the CEO and CSO of this well-known call tracking and analytics company did was downright despicable. By their own admission, they willfully profited from telemarketing and tech support scammers, here and abroad, who preyed on the elderly, exploited the vulnerable, and drained victims of their life savings and peace of mind.

Behind every fraudulent call was a real person left frightened, humiliated, or financially shattered.Tech support scams cost Americans $2.1 billion last year, and Rhode Islanders reported losing at least $5.7 million, the FBI stated. The fact that the FBI took matters into own hands and shut down a call center in India is an interesting story here.
