Global Players Show Interest In IT hardware PLI?
Hardware PLI has received with many global giants showing interest in manufacturing the devices.
The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party has been focusing more on the idea of being vocal for local. As part of this, the Make in India idea was brought under which the production of items in the nation would be encouraged. With this, country-manufactured goods can be encouraged which also boosts employment.
It is known that the Indian government recently proposed a ban on importing laptops. The proposal which was made earlier this month says that there would be certain procedures to import electronic devices like laptops, tablets, and others. Earlier people were free to go for any imports.
Now it looks like the Make In India initiative gets a big boost in IT hardware. There is a big reason behind this. As many as 32 companies have applied under the Production Linked Incentive Scheme (PLI). The applications were received for the production of laptops and PCs in India.
Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted the super response the hardware PLI has received with many global giants showing interest in manufacturing the devices. He said that HP India, Dell, Acer, Lenovo, Thomson, and others applied for the same.
Once the process is started, the incremental production would see a big rise while employment also sees an uptick. Thousands of people are expected to get employment while the sector would record big numbers in production and sales.
India has been one of the biggest markets for electronic gadgets and systems. If the manufacturing of these takes place in India then it can provide big employment opportunities. If this happens then it would give a big boost to the country.
India is among the nations that were severely hit by the Covid. Despite coming out of the effect, there are a few obstacles. The production of laptops and PCs might come in handy now.
Earlier this year, the Union government came up with the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for IT hardware. Intending to make the global companies come to India for production, the scheme has an outlay of massive Rs 17,000 crore.
