It is already known that the United States immigration authorities have been going very hard against the working population. It is now being established that Indian H1B aspirants will have to wait for another 15 months to secure their visa appointment dates.

Indian nationals planning to travel to the United States on H 1B visas are facing a major setback, as visa interview slots at US consulates in India are reportedly unavailable until March 2027. Recent updates indicate that applicants trying to book fresh H 1B stamping appointments are either seeing no dates at all or are being pushed nearly two years ahead.

US consulates in major Indian cities including Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, and Kolkata are currently struggling with a massive backlog. Even candidates who earlier managed to secure interview dates for late 2025 or early 2026 are now receiving rescheduling notices, moving their appointments to mid or late 2027.

The delay is said to be caused by limited staffing, increased security screening, and a surge in demand after restrictions on third country visa stamping were tightened. As a result, all H 1B related categories including renewals and dependent visas are also impacted.

Immigration experts warn that there is no immediate relief in sight, and applicants are advised to plan their travel and job commitments carefully. While the H 1B lottery and petition process in the US continues as usual, visa stamping in India has emerged as the biggest hurdle for professionals.
