The Donald Trump administration in the United States took a pretty significant decision with regard to the new applicants of the H1B Visa. It has been officially confirmed that the new H1B Visa fee will be $100K.

However, in what could be considered a positive development regarding this massive change to the H1B Visa policy, it is be communicated that the new regulation will be in effect only for the new applicant and not for the existing holders.

The U.S. government has announced a new $100,000 fee for H-1B visas, but officials clarified that it comes with specific rules. The fee will be charged only once, at the time of filing the petition, and it applies only to new visa applications. Current H-1B holders and those applying for renewals will not be affected.

The new fee will also not impact the 2025 lottery winners, as they have already secured their visas under the old rules. Instead, the change will first apply from the next H-1B lottery cycle, making it relevant for fresh applicants.

The policy is aimed at reducing overuse of the H-1B program while still allowing highly skilled professionals to enter the U.S. workforce. While many industry leaders are concerned about the high cost, the government believes this will ensure only serious employers apply for the limited visas available.
