Why Hardik Pandya Selected For WC Despite Poor Form?

The wait is finally over. The Selection Committee announced the final squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Reserve players for the Men In Blue were also announced. Fans had a few doubts on who would make it to the final cut and who would miss on the big opportunity.

Clearing all the doubts the team was announced. However, fans have a few questions on the selection and Hardik Pandya is the bigger question here. There is no doubt that he was taken under the all-rounder quotes along with Ravindra Jadeja. Hardik Pandya was announced as the Vice Captain which is a big surprise.

Hardik Pandya was last seen in the Indian team in the 2023 World Cup. He injured himself and was ruled out of the league. This opened the doors for Mohammed Shami who grabbed the opportunity with both hands.

Even in IPL Hardik Pandya failed to put up a big performance be it with the ball or bat. In the match against CSK, his over made the difference as MI lost to CSK with 20 runs. He did not have a good time as the skipper too as Mumbai Indians lost seven out of ten matches.

Young players like Abhishek Sharma, Shashank Singh, Rinku Singh, and Ruturaj Gaikwad displayed batting prowess with good knocks. Gaikwad had a century and came close to a century once. We all know how Rinku Singh is playing.

Despite this, Hardik Pandya was picked. Fans say that considering the future needs he might have picked. We won't see either Rohit Sharma or Virat Kohli in the next World Cup due to their age and there is a need to find a suitable skipper.

Though we have players like KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant, the selection team might have seen Hardik Pandya as the credible option and he might have been given a chance despite poor IPL form.
