It is known that a random selection method is used for selecting the H-1 B Visas. A lottery will be held and only those who are lucky will get selected and receive a call. The stage is set for the Second H-1B Lottery for the fiscal year. The second selection would be done for the remaining slots.

The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) said that the second lottery would be held soon. While this is good news for the aspirants it is a big concern for the MS students as they would not get a second chance in the lottery which can be seen as a big blow.

The Master’s students would have to worry as there will be no second chance under the category. It's not that the required registrations were not made. Despite this the students might not get the second selection.

It is said that in the upcoming selection all the registrations would be considered for the random selection. Those who applied for Master's Cap and regular cap would be included in this affecting the students.

Advanced Degree Cap usually opens a lot of doors for the Master's students due to the numerical allocation of slots. Given the big numbers the majority of students get the visas. However things are said to be different. It is said that there is no vacancy in the Advanced Degree cap; all the registrations would be added in the election draining the chances of the students.

USCIS said that the first selection was held in March for the registrations which were submitted for H-1Bs in the fiscal year and the second selection process would be done soon.
