It is known that the Indian government banned a few adult websites. In a phased manner hundreds of websites were banned by the Department of Telecommunications. Though the decision had a certain impact on the websites, they were not shut down completely as new websites came into existence.

Now the High Court made some interesting comments on consuming porn content. Hearing a petition, the High Court said that watching pornography in private is not an offence. The verdict given by the court came as a big relief to the accused.

Going into detail, a person in God’s Own Country Kerala was arrested by the cops on allegations of watching porn in private. It is said that the person watched porn on the roadside. With this, the issue went to the notice of the cops and he was arrested. A case was also filed against the accused under section 292.

The issue went to the notice of the Kerala High Court. After hearing the arguments of both sides, the Court said that watching porn in private cannot be seen as an offence and also mentioned the rights of the person watching porn.

As the accused was slapped with Section 292 of the India Penal Code, the Justice said that the section is not applicable here and it can be used only when the content is shared and circulated with others.

However, the Judge who gave the verdict also shed light on the importance of parents having a tab on what their kids are watching. The Court said that while giving phones to kids parents should be careful as there is a danger with this.
