Hyderabad Kite Festival Kick-Starts Today At Parade Grounds
The seventh International Kite and Sweet Festival will be held at Parade Grounds in Secunderabad from January 13 to 15.
The seventh International Kite and Sweet Festival will be held at Parade Grounds in Secunderabad from January 13 to 15. The grand cultural event is being held on Sankranthi's occasion. 47 international kite flyers representing 16 countries will participate, alongside 60 kite club members from 14 Indian states. The Telangana Tourism and Culture Department is organizing this grand event.
Entry is free for the event, and the visitors can look forward to indulging in a wide variety of sweets, including traditional treats from Telangana and specialties from different states and countries. The festival will also showcase cultural performances, handloom exhibits, and handicrafts. The event is expected to attract around 15 lakh visitors.
Minister Jupalli Krishna Rao also shared plans to expand the festival to rural parts of the state. He highlighted Hyderabad’s diversity and referred to the city as a "mini-India," with residents from various states and countries calling it home.
Before unveiling the festival poster, the Minister toured sweet stalls where women from different states displayed traditional homemade sweets. Smita Sabharwal, Secretary of the Tourism and Culture Department, described the festival as a unique conceptual event, marking a first-of-its-kind initiative in India and globally.
Tourism Department Director Zendage Hanumant Kondiba and Director of Culture Mamidi Harikrishna, attended the press conference, where the details are unveiled.
