In what could be considered an extremely shocking incident, a female software engineer from Bihar has sadly committed suicide in Hyderabad and there is a set of highly unexpected incidents associated with the same.
A 26-year-old software engineer, Ishika Yadav, was found dead by suicide in her apartment in the Miyapur area of Hyderabad, just about 50 days after her marriage, with her family alleging persistent dowry harassment by her husband, police said.
Ishika, originally from Bihar and employed in the software sector, was discovered hanging from a ceiling fan in the living room of her flat on Wednesday evening. Her husband, Neeraj Bhansal, also a tech professional, alerted the authorities after finding her unresponsive.
Police said the couple first met on social media in 2020, developed a relationship over nearly five years, and eventually married in Patna on February 20 this year in a family ceremony. They later relocated to Hyderabad for work.
According to a complaint filed by Ishika’s parents, tensions emerged soon after the marriage when her husband allegedly began pressuring her and her family for additional dowry. The family also claimed that Neeraj urged them to invest money in a start-up venture he had recently launched.
Based on the family’s allegations, the Miyapur police have registered a First Information Report and taken Neeraj into custody. His statements are being recorded as part of the ongoing investigation. Ishika’s body has been sent to Gandhi Hospital for post-mortem examination, and authorities are probing all angles, including accusations of harassment.
The tragic death has reignited discussions on dowry harassment and mental health pressures faced by young couples in modern urban areas.
