The Hyderabad city police are known for their extremely cautious approach when it comes to driver safety on roads. This is the reason why a large number of challenges are imposed on the common public during all times of the day.

A major report says vehicle owners are facing a huge challan burden. The headline highlights that traffic police have collected ₹153.90 crore in fines. This big amount includes both old pending challans and new violations.

In 2026, the total revenue collected so far is ₹7,207.48 crore. In 2025, the total was ₹6,057.23 crore. This shows an increase of ₹1,150.25 crore. The percentage growth mentioned is 84.04 percent. The report also says that fines from traffic violations alone brought ₹4,988.07 crore. Out of this, ₹3,943.69 crore came from one major category.

When comparing 2025 and 2026, license related collections were ₹4,155.00 crore in 2025 and ₹3,943.69 crore in 2026, showing a drop of ₹211.31 crore and minus 5.09 percent. Another category increased from ₹845.46 crore to ₹902.87 crore, a rise of ₹57.41 crore or 6.79 percent. One section grew from ₹56.18 crore to ₹64.55 crore, an increase of ₹8.37 crore or 14.90 percent.

Collections from a different category rose from ₹451.94 crore to ₹487.77 crore, up by ₹35.83 crore or 7.93 percent. Another increased from ₹165.12 crore to ₹191.79 crore, a growth of ₹26.67 crore or 16.15 percent. One major section jumped from ₹114.35 crore to ₹191.51 crore, a sharp rise of ₹77.16 crore or 67.48 percent.

While this might be problematic for the common public to pay the number of fines, road safety is also crucial and hence, this move by the traffic police department can’t be criticized.
