Some pretty substantial developments with regard to the upcoming T20 World Cup has happened in the form of the exit of Bangladesh. This is due to the fact that Bangladesh operated not to travel to India due to security concerns.

Bangladesh is now likely to be out of the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup because it will not travel to India for the tournament. The World Cup starts on February 7, 2026 and is co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka.

Bangladesh’s cricket board and government have refused to send the team to India. They want their matches moved to Sri Lanka because they are worried about player safety and political tensions.

The International Cricket Council rejected this request. The ICC said all security checks show there is no credible threat for Bangladeshi players or officials in India. It also said changing venues so close to the event could cause problems for the entire tournament.

Bangladesh was given a deadline to decide if it will play in India. The BCB stood firm and said it would not travel unless the location is changed. Now the ICC has warned that Bangladesh could be replaced in the World Cup if it does not agree to play in India. Reports say Scotland may take Bangladesh’s place.

Now it has been confirmed that Bangladesh will not be a part of the upcoming T20 World Cup and it is Scotland, which will be replacing them.
