It's been a few weeks since the T20 World Cup concluded. India won the trophy and Indians cannot come out of the winning moments yet as the last five overs were nothing short of a thriller. India’s ICC trophy drought ended finally as Men In Blue won the trophy after 17 long years.

However, the T20 World Cup is said to have resulted in massive losses to the ICC. As per the reports, the event cost a 20 million USD (Rs 167 crore) loss to ICC. Selecting America is said to be the reason behind the losses.

As per the information, high maintenance costs and the sale of fewer tickets led to the losses. Usually, we see the grounds fully packed for the World Cup events which was not the case with the matches played in the USA. Most of the matches did not see full crowds. Moreover, the pitches were quite tough.

America was picked as the host of the T20 World Cup including West Indies to promote the game. A temporary stadium was also constructed in the US. After the matches were played the stadium was brought down. This is the additional cost to the losses ICC faced with the World Cup.

All of this might be discussed at the crucial ICC meeting. Besides this, the meeting might also discuss the ICC chairman election, and Jay Shah is said to be in the race. This is probably the first time an ICC event reported a huge loss. Wherever the events are held there would be big profits. Countries also show interest in hosting the matches.
