It is already known that the United Kingdom has been the next favourite destination for the Indian community after the obvious choice of the United States. And it appears that the Indian origin households are doing very well for themselves in the United Kingdom as well.

Indian origin households have emerged as the wealthiest ethnic group in the United Kingdom, according to a recent report by the London School of Economics.

The study highlights a sharp rise in household wealth among Indian families over the last decade, placing them ahead of all other ethnic communities in the country.

The report notes that the median wealth of Indian origin households has more than doubled since the early 2010s. This growth is largely driven by high levels of home ownership, long term property appreciation, and increased participation in financial investments.

Researchers point out that wealth gains are not only linked to income, but also to assets passed across generations and smart investment choices made over time.

In contrast, the report flags deep inequalities across other ethnic groups. While White British households have also seen steady growth in wealth, several communities continue to lag far behind. Pakistani households recorded a decline in median wealth, while Black African, Black Caribbean, and Bangladeshi households remain close to zero in terms of median assets.

Experts say the findings underline widening wealth gaps in the UK, where asset ownership plays a bigger role than wages alone. The LSE warns that without policy intervention, these disparities could deepen further, shaping long term social and economic inequality across generations.
