The sudden death of an Indian-origin worker in New Zealand has left many people heartbroken. New Zealand resident Paradeep Singh, lovingly called Deep by his friends and family, lost his life during a tragic accident while doing yard work at his home in Cambridge, Waikato.
According to reports, Deep was helping with tree branch cutting work on his day off. During the work, a heavy branch reportedly hit the left side of his head, causing a serious injury. People nearby immediately rushed to help him after hearing him cry out in pain. Emergency services were called quickly, but sadly, doctors could not save him. Police later confirmed that he died at the scene, and the case has now been handed over to the Coroner for further investigation.
Deep had moved to New Zealand in 2023 and was working as an operations manager in a horticulture company. Friends described him as a hardworking and caring person who always supported his family. He was the only earning member in the house and also sent money regularly to his elderly parents in India. His mother is said to be paralysed and dependent on his financial help.
The tragedy has become even more painful because Deep’s wife, Kamal, had recently joined him in New Zealand after their marriage around six months ago. She reportedly has no relatives, income, or support system in the country. Friends say she had not even fully settled into her new life there before this heartbreaking incident happened.
People close to the couple said Kamal is completely alone and struggling emotionally and financially after losing her husband. The couple had dreams of building a future in New Zealand and later travelling back to India for wedding celebrations with relatives and friends.
After the incident, members of the local Indian community and friends started a fundraising campaign to support Kamal and help send Deep’s body back to India for the final rites. Many people have come forward to offer help and prayers to the grieving family during this difficult time.
