The Indian team led by Rohit Sharma scripted history by winning the T20 World Cup. Ending the ICC trophy drought the Men In Blue lifted the trophy. The team would have landed in India by now. However, the team and staff were struck in the Caribbean islands due to the hurricane.
The situation came under control and a flight carrying team members and staff left from Barbados this Afternoon. They would land in India in the early hours of Thursday. BCCI arranged a special flight for them.
As the team scripted history, It would be felicitated. As per the information shared by Hindustan Times, the team will be felicitated tomorrow. After landing in India the team would reach Mumbai.
The team would meet the Prime Minister followed by a felicitation. Later the team might go to the iconic Wankhede Stadium for a ceremony. Captain Rohit Sharma is likely to hand over the Trophy to the BCCI.
The journey from the ceremony to the stadium is likely to be a parade in a bus. We saw a similar kind of celebration in 2007 when India won the maiden T20 Cup. Players boarded a bus and did a parade. Chak De India song was played throughout the journey.
Cut to 17 years India won its second T20 Cup and to celebrate the occasion the celebrations and parade are said to have been planned by the BCCI. Fans are expected to be present in big numbers during the same. Earlier Jay Shah announced Rs 125 cr for the team after the World Cup trophy.
Team India has been superb throughout the league and won the title. It remained unbeaten and lifted the trophy by defeating South Africa in the finals.
