India is one of the best platforms for the techies. It is no wonder that companies from other nations prefer Indians over others for the jobs. This is the reason why we can see Indian techies in almost every country. Be it the US, UK, Australia, and others we can find Indians.
Talking about the Indian techies they work for long hours compared to others. As an example of this, the average work hours of Indian techies is 52.5 hours per week which is higher than the global average. The global average is 47.7 hours per week. More than 51 percent of techies work between 9 to 12 hours.
More working hours means more work and long hours before the systems. This is leaving a heavy toll on them as they are facing a lot of issues. They are developing more and more health issues due to the long working hours.
The Knowledge Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) report shed light on the issues faced by the techies. It said that the techies are suffering from poor health. They are dealing with a variety of health issues.
The study found that the employees suffer issues like acidity, gut problems, back and neck pain, erratic sleep cycles, muscle stiffness, and eyesight-related issues. Due to odd working hours, their sleep cycle gets affected and they cannot tackle food on time. With this, they develop acidity and sleep issues.
Not just the health issues but the mental issues are also faced by the employees. Mental issues like stress, anxiety, and depression are suffered by the employees.
India is a big market for IT and exports. Some of the Tech giants have global clients. When the sector has so much potential, the employees are struggling with the issues. It would be good if the management focus on such issues and try to ease the stress a bit.
