International Cricket Stadium Under Construction in Mangalagiri
During a recent Apex Council meeting held at the Mangalagiri stadium, key decisions were made regarding the stadium's development and overall cricketing growth in the state
The Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) is making significant strides in the development of an international cricket stadium in Mangalagiri, with the aim of meeting international standards. ACA President and Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath, commonly known as Chinni, announced that the stadium will be equipped to host international cricket matches in the future. This initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance cricket infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh and promote the sport across the region.
During a recent Apex Council meeting held at the Mangalagiri stadium, key decisions were made regarding the stadium's development and overall cricketing growth in the state. Chinni emphasized the importance of collaboration with local leaders, mentioning that Mangalagiri MLA Nara Lokesh will support the establishment of a sports center in the area. With the existing international stadium in Visakhapatnam, the Mangalagiri stadium will complement the state's cricketing landscape.
Chinni also highlighted the need for immediate funding to improve basic amenities at the Mangalagiri stadium. He noted that progress on the construction had been slow over the past five years due to negligence from the previous government and contractor issues. As the newly elected president of the ACA, Chinni is committed to expediting the completion of the stadium, ensuring that it meets the required standards for hosting international events.
In his recent inspection of the site, Chinni pointed out the challenges faced during construction, including design flaws and the bankruptcy of the initial contractor, IVRCL Infrastructures & Projects Limited. He expressed confidence that the current ACA leadership, in collaboration with the government, would overcome these obstacles. With plans to enhance connectivity to the stadium and promote cricket throughout the state, the ACA aims to complete the stadium in time to potentially host international matches within the next year.
