Is Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy planning to go for early polls? The buzz in the AP secretariat and Amaravati region is that YS Jagan wants to catch the opposition TDP unawares and defeat it before the anti-incumbency gets further crystalized.

Political observers point out that the general administration has cancelled the leaves of all the staff and even those seeking medical leave of absence have been obtain permission from the concerned district collector. These are clear-cut signs of the government’s plan to advance the elections in the state, they argue.

What more? The district collectors across the state have recently conducted an inspection of the VVPATs and the EVMs. This is another sign that the government is actively considering dissolving the assembly and going for early polls. They feel that the ruling YSRCP core committee, which met recently, too discussed the issue.

Sources say that the government is finding it extremely difficult to make both ends meet. Continuing the welfare schemes is proving to be a massive burden on the state’s financial resources. Hence the government wants to advance the polls before the discontent over lack of development, delay in implementation of schemes adds to the anti-incumbency. Hence, going for early polls appears to be a plausible way to beat the anti-incumbency, they argue.
