There is a popular saying; whoever holds a weapon would die with it. If one wants to use violence to extend power then they would die with it. This applies to not only local politics but also to international politics. Hamas can be cited as a big reason here. Whatever might be the reason Hamas waged a war against Israel it is paying for its deeds.
Israel claimed that it had assassinated Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh. Hamas said that he was killed in an assassination in Iran. In the attack made by Israel at his house in Tehran Ismail Haniyeh was killed. His bodyguard was also killed in this. He attended the inauguration ceremony of Iran’s new President Masoud Pezeshkian. No one came forward to take the responsibility.
If we look at the incident from the lens of old rivalry, many say that Israel might be the reason for his death. The development is likely to escalate things in the world. Iran might consider the assassination of Hamas chief who is its guest as a big issue. If this happens then new tensions might appear. International media houses claimed that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps is looking into the assassination.
Ismail Haniyeh was born in 1962 at a refugee camp near Gaza City. He joined Hamas in the late 1980s. His name became popular for the first time in 1990. He was a close aide of Hamas founder Ahmed Yassin. He used to give political advice to Ahmed Yassin. Passing through various positions he became the chief.
He became a crucial force in Hamas after Ahmed Yassin was assassinated in 2004 in Israel's attack. He ruled the Gaza Strip after becoming the Palestine State PM in 2006. He was sacked from the position in 2007 by the president of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas. Since then the Fatah–Hamas conflict has been going on. Keeping aside Abbas’s directives he held the PM post. He was elected as Hamas chief in 2017. He was added to the list of global terrorists by the US.
He left the Gaza Strip in 2019 and he has been living in Qatar. In the attack made by Israel in April this year, Haniyeh’s three sons, four granddaughters, and grandsons. Now he was assassinated.
