Will old Congress warhorse and former minister K Jana Reddy hang his boots this time. Though the Congress party has begun accepting applications for party ticket and the Gandhi Bhavan is agog with activity, the veteran of many battles has not applied so far. This has given rise to many a speculation about his political intentions.

However, some party sources point out that Jana's son Jaiveer Reddy, who is seen as Jana's political heir, has already applied for the party ticket from Miryalaguda assembly constituency. Interestingly, Jana Reddy contests from Nagarjunasagar. This only means that Jana might apply sometime late.

In fact, Jana has for long been demanding two seats for his family – Nagarjunasagar for himself and Miryalguda for Jaiveer Reddy. The party has been non-committal about his demand. Now that Jaiveer has already applied for Miryalguda, Jana might either choose to contest from Nagarjunasagar or opt out of the contest to focus entirely on Jaiveer's campaign.

The Congress headquarters of Gandhi Bhavan is agog with activity these days. Party's ticket aspirants are flooding the Gandhi Bhavan. According to party sources, already over 700 applicants have submitted their applications. Friday is the last day for accepting the applications.
