Jio Users Face Major Network Outage Across India

On September 17, 2024, Jio users across India faced a major network outage, leaving many unable to make calls, send messages, or use the internet. The issue was widely reported on social media platforms, with users expressing frustration about the disruption. According to Down Detector, a website that tracks network issues, the outage reports began rising around 10:00 am, with over 10,000 error reports recorded by noon.

The majority of the complaints, around 68%, were about the lack of signal, while 18% were related to mobile internet problems, and 14% concerned JioFibre issues. Competing networks like Airtel, Vodafone Idea, and BSNL appeared to function normally during the outage.

On social media platform X (formerly Twitter), users discussed the issue using the hashtag ‘#JioDown.’ Many reported that they were unable to make calls or use mobile data. Some users humorously remarked that competitors like Airtel and Vodafone users were enjoying the situation.

One user wrote to Jio’s official account on X, informing them about the outage and requesting updates on when the service would be restored. The outage seemed to impact major cities, including Mumbai, and persisted for over an hour before Jio began working on resolving the issue.

This significant disruption affected millions of Jio customers across India, causing widespread inconvenience.
