We have many states in the Country. There are 29 states in India now. But none of them comes close to God’s Own Country Kerala when it comes to setting up a good example and standing tall as the best state.

Kerala has the highest literacy in the Country and the development has also been top notch there. It is no wonder in saying that Kerala has been setting up the benchmark in various aspects. Yet again Kerala did it and stood tall among the states in the country.

As per the latest Niti Aayog report, Kerala has the least poverty in the country. God’s own country has less than 0.50 percent poverty. To be precise, the state has 0.48 percent poverty, which is the least.

For the past few decades, Kerala has been having less poverty which is coming down regularly. The stage did a phenomenal job in this and in less than 2 decades the poverty was reduced by more than 12 percent.

Between 2005-6 the poverty in the state was around 12.31 percent. But the same came down to 0.48 percent which is nothing short of any sensation. The governments should be credited for this.

Kerala has been working hard to eradicate poverty from the state and the governments took initiatives aiming at the same. These collective efforts helped the state to reduce poverty. The poor are given houses by the government and financial assistance is also offered. All these factors helped the state in dealing with poverty.

On the other hand Bihar is at the top position in the list with a poverty percentage of 26.59 percent. Odisha also did a good job by reducing poverty in big numbers. Talking about the Telugu States, Telangana and AP has poverty of 3 and 4.19 percent respectively.

Niti Aayog considered aspects like electricity, housing, cooking gas, bank account, infant mortality as the parameters to record the poverty.

The opposition parties have objections to the parameters and raised some doubts on the authenticity of them. Congress said that Niti Aayog released the report to impress the PM.

The main objection they have is that the report said poverty had come down in the state in the past few years. They question the authenticity.
