These days we have been witnessing several Malayalam directors and actors who are getting arrested and drug related cases. We have another addition of another talented Malayalam film maker now.
Director Khalid Rahman, who recently tasted success with his Malayalam film Alipuzha Jinkhana, has found himself in serious trouble. Just days after the movie’s release, Rahman was arrested in Kochi during a late-night police raid.
Around 2 AM on April 26, 2025, authorities raided an apartment near the Gosree Bridge, which belongs to noted cinematographer Sameer Thahir. During the operation, police recovered 1.6 grams of hybrid marijuana. Along with Khalid Rahman, director Ashraf Hamza and another individual, Shalif Mohammed, were also taken into custody.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the Malayalam film industry, as both Rahman and Hamza are well-regarded names. As per reports, the police acted on specific information about drug use at the location.
Though the seized quantity is considered small, under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, possession of even small amounts can lead to legal consequences. Further investigation into the case is ongoing.
