Approximately over a thousand Hindus came together to demonstrate against Khalistani extremists after their attack on a Hindu temple in Brampton Canada. The demonstration was organized by the Coalition of Hindus of North America (CoHNA) and it took place outside the Hindu Sabha Mandir which is amongst the biggest temples of Canada. The protesters chanted slogans and spoke about the rise of attacks on Hindus and their temples in Canada and shouted for government protectiveness and accountability on the same.
“During Diwali celebrations, which saw continued violence against our people, the trend of violence toward temples and our individuals seemed to have reached a new level,” said CoHNA calling for the growing trend of violence toward Hindu Canadians to end. They wanted to highlight the issue of Hinduphobia through protests and emphasized that Canadian leaders and police had to take serious steps against Khalistani extremism.
The organization called upon social media to mobilize the Hindu crowd. The Hindu Sabha Temple witnessed a brutal attack during which a section of Hindu congregation was beaten up by Khalistani activists who were waving banners of Khalistan. Towards this attack, of which a Canadian temple was the target there was a plethora of outrage from Canadian MPs, prominent ones including Justin Trudeau, Pierre Poilievre and others. Toronto Member of Parliament Kevin Vuong regretted the fact that the authorities had not taken steps to ensure the safety of the Hindu community.
